Leeds Mount Comeback to Sidestep FA Cup Upset at Derby
Leeds mounted a comeback in the second half to defeat Derby County 3-1, securing their spot in the FA Cup's fourth round on Sunday.
The top-flight team has only suffered one defeat in their previous nine matches, distancing themselves from the drop zone.
However, at the break, they trailed the Championship outfit Derby, courtesy of a precise finish by Chile's Ben Brereton Diaz into the lower corner.
Earlier, Joel Piroe had his spot-kick denied by Jacob Zetterstrom, but the Dutch forward made amends by contributing to the turnaround.
Jaka Bijol delivered the ball into the box, where Piroe's clever dummy enabled Willy Gnonto to fire in the leveller on the 55th minute.
Merely four minutes after, Piroe's driven effort was pushed away by Zetterstrom, allowing Ao Tanaka to tap home the loose ball.
The away side sealed the win deep into added time as James Justin finished a smooth breakaway move.
Later, Manchester United welcome Brighton, with caretaker boss Darren Fletcher aiming to strengthen his position for a longer stint.
Arsenal, atop the Premier League, face Championship side Portsmouth on the road.
