Lampard Credits Former Chelsea Manager Mourinho with Greatest Influence on His Professional Journey

Lampard has made a comeback to the Premier League alongside Coventry City following their triumph in the Championship.

The 47 year old has excelled with the Sky Blues since assuming control when the team sat in 17th place back in November 2024.

Coventry suffered a setback in the play off semi finals against Sunderland in the previous season yet rebounded impressively by clinching the title with an impressive 11 point margin.

Marking their return to Englands elite division after a 25 year absence Lampard has shared thoughts on his coaching path thus far during a chat with The Times.

He highlighted Mourinhos profound effect noting how the Portuguese manager instilled significant self assurance and faith in his potential for achievement.

There is that element of Jose Mourinho Lampard remarked. The most notable influence from Jose was the level of self belief he instilled in me through his own unshakeable confidence. That sense truly resonated with me.

I tended to be somewhat reserved and he urged me You must embrace it you have to assert yourself more. He was intensely focused on victory We do not accept defeat this is our way. I draw from that to some extent though I realise I cannot transform into Jose or emulate Carlo as that would not align with who I am.

Lampard featured in 215 matches under Mourinhos tenure at Stamford Bridge and as Chelseas all time leading scorer he evidently absorbed key insights from the legendary coach.
