Lamine Yamal's Spectacular Volley Seals Barcelona's Victory Over Oviedo to Regain La Liga Lead

Barcelona secured the top position in La Liga once more after a convincing 3-0 triumph against Real Oviedo on Sunday, with strikes from Dani Olmo, Raphinha, and a brilliant overhead kick by Lamine Yamal.

Following Real Madrid's win against Villarreal on Saturday that temporarily placed them at the summit, the Catalan side moved one point clear again.

Despite Oviedo languishing at the foot of the standings with only two wins this campaign, Barcelona faced a tough battle as the away team mounted a sturdy defensive effort to frustrate Hansi Flick's squad until the break.

In the end, the home team's superior talent shone through at the partly reopened Camp Nou, and once Olmo broke the deadlock, Barcelona dominated proceedings.

The standout moment came from Yamal's exquisite volley off Olmo's delivery, clinching the win for the Blaugrana.

"I realise we were not at our peak during the opening period... yet the squad has performed exceptionally well over recent weeks and months," Flick commented to DAZN.

The manager commended Yamal's tireless pressing and celebrated his superb finish.

"It was outstanding... I'm delighted he netted such a fine goal, and the third strike proved crucial for us," Flick continued.

Barcelona found it challenging to penetrate in a lacklustre first half, their distribution lacking its usual sharpness.

Injured playmaker Pedri Gonzalez observed from the sidelines with a disappointed look.

Oviedo looked to hit back on the break, and Haissem Hassan forced a stop from Joan Garcia with a shot from afar.

On the opposite side, Aaron Escandell pulled off a sharp save at his post to deny Raphinha just before the interval.

The hosts emerged revitalised after the restart and quickly went ahead.

Following intense pressure from Yamal and Raphinha inside the area, the ball fell to Olmo, who slotted it away coolly.

Oviedo conceded a sloppy second after 57 minutes when Raphinha latched onto a misplaced pass from David Costas and chipped it over Escandell.

Barcelona's final goal was masterfully executed by Yamal, who unleashed a stunning bicycle kick from Olmo's lofted pass that was dropping behind him, sealing the result.

A heavy rainstorm drenched the venue, causing supporters to rush for cover since the roof remains incomplete, but those who stayed witnessed Escandell thwart Robert Lewandowski's chance for a fourth with an excellent intervention.

"We were not at our sharpest in the first half, but we found the net in the second and that matters most," Raphinha remarked.
