Kane declares Bayern Munich fear no rivals before Real Madrid showdown
Harry Kane stated that Bayern Munich approached their quarter-final encounter with Real Madrid without any apprehension, following their victory over Atalanta on Wednesday.
After starting on the substitutes bench in the initial match, Kane netted two goals as Bayern secured a 4-1 win, achieving a commanding 10-2 aggregate scoreline to advance against the 15-time European Cup champions.
"We fear nobody," the England skipper remarked to DAZN regarding the upcoming fixture against Real.
"It will undoubtedly be challenging, yet with the momentum gained from this match and our performances throughout the campaign, we simply must continue our current approach."
Kane's double elevated his Champions League career tally to 50 goals across 66 appearances.
In the current term, he has registered 47 strikes in 39 outings across all tournaments, surpassing his previous best single-season haul for any club.
Leading the Bundesliga by nine points with eight fixtures remaining, Bayern have suffered defeat in only two of their 41 contests this season.
During his debut campaign in Germany last term, Kane was eliminated over two legs in the semi-finals by Real, who later triumphed over Bayern's domestic competitors Borussia Dortmund in the Wembley final.
Wearing the captain's armband for Bayern in the Champions League for the first time, Kane indicated that his team had absorbed lessons from that loss and understood the demands of facing Real.
"Facing Real Madrid in the Champions League always presents formidable opposition, and you must prepare for intense competition," Kane explained.
"You need to adopt a specific style of play, and we will be fully prepared for it."
Bayern have been unable to defeat the Spanish powerhouse since the 2011-12 semi-finals.
"Both teams are colossal entities," commented Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.
"Determining superiority at this moment is irrelevant, as the legacies of both outfits are immense.
"It promises to be an extraordinary occasion. In truth, against Madrid, as the intensity rises, they elevate their game. That is why I anticipate a match of the highest calibre.
"It will entertain the supporters, including those not aligned with either side, but ultimately, our goal is victory."
