Kaizer Chiefs Forward Flavio Silva: 'I'm No Messi or Ronaldo, Yet With Proper Supply, I'll Deliver Goals'

Flavio Silva notched his eighth goal this season across various competitions during the 2-0 triumph against TS Galaxy on Sunday. He is eager to achieve double digits as Chiefs prepare to meet Magesi FC on Wednesday, aiming for a fifth successive victory.

I feel delighted, and even more so with these four straight triumphs. It benefits the squad and everyone involved at the club, Silva remarked. I have no grievances. This is the environment I thrive in. From my youth, I wished to represent a team like this, a major outfit with significant expectations.

Playing for such a club is a lifelong aspiration for me. The pressure is positive and carries great duty, but it is the sort I embrace.

He mentions that he does not let fan critiques affect him deeply, understanding that his performance will be measured by his scoring record.

As long as the feedback is not aimed personally, it is acceptable. It might indicate I need to elevate my game. When I perform strongly, I receive welcomes, admiration, and abundant affection. Thus, it poses no issue for me. It is simply an element of the sport.

Silva acknowledges his style as a forward who excels near the penalty area, stressing that quality passes will lead to goals from him.

The focus remains on the collective effort. I constantly communicate with my colleagues, assuring them I can find the target, though I am neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo. I will not weave past several defenders to score solo.

I position myself effectively, they need to deliver the ball, and I trust their decisions. Hence, it always centres on the group.

Naturally, we push until the final whistle. Should I reach 20 goals, I will target 22. There are no boundaries.

Even as Chiefs vie for a third place finish this term and potential CAF Confederation Cup action next, Silva believes greater achievements are possible.

I am not entirely content yet. I cannot claim full satisfaction, though the current standing is improved compared to last year when the club faced difficulties, he noted. Nevertheless, it falls short for an institution of this stature. Our baseline is to challenge the leading teams. We are nearing that point, but it requires ongoing development.

Chiefs previously defeated Magesi 2-0 last month, yet Silva views Wednesdays encounter as a fresh challenge.

Indeed, we hold positive recollections, but those are behind us. We seek another three points due to our lofty goals, he added.

We hold them in regard. Underestimating them is unwise. We recognise their objectives, as they aim to secure their PSL status for the upcoming season. Yet, we possess our ambitions too. Qualifying for CAF and securing a top three spot drive us.
