Jeong seals late point for Union Berlin in Bundesliga draw at Stuttgart

Woo-yeong Jeong from Union Berlin found the net in the 83rd minute to secure a crucial point for his team in a 1-1 stalemate against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Chris Fuehrichs effort for the German outfit had them poised for third place, but the South Koreans last-gasp leveller keeps the Cup holders in fourth, one point in front of RB Leipzig who sit fifth.

The surprise package Union have avoided defeat since the start of December, over five games now, and occupy eighth position, trailing the European spots by five points.

The first half offered slim pickings for both teams, until Fuehrich netted for the hosts right before the hour.

Stuttgart defender Ramon Hendriks surged ahead before linking up with Fuehrich, who slotted a low drive inside the near post.

German midfielder Angelo Stiller squandered a sitter to make it two with ten minutes left, firing wide with the target gaping and only Unions Frederik Ronnow standing in his way.

That error bit back swiftly as ex-Stuttgart striker Jeong hooked his effort into the top corner at the 83-minute stage.

Jeong held back on any goal celebration, and came close to nicking victory over his previous club in the closing seconds, yet Stuttgart keeper Alexander Nuebel parried his attempt with ease.

Coming up later that Sunday, Freiburg head to bottom-feeders Augsburg.
