Jayden Nelson Called Up for Injured Marcelo Flores in Canada's World Cup Squad

Flores, a 22-year-old midfielder for Tigres UANL, sustained an injury during last month's CONCACAF Champions Cup final.

"Austin FC's Jayden Nelson has been chosen to take the place of Tigres UANL's Marcelo Flores on #CANMNT's team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026," Canada Soccer announced on X.

Nelson, aged 23, has scored three goals in 14 appearances for Canada.

Canada, one of the World Cup co-hosts, will begin their campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina on 12th June in Toronto, then face Qatar and Switzerland in Group B.
