Individual admits guilt for sending repulsive messages to England womens footballer Carter

An individual pleaded guilty on Friday to dispatching wholly repulsive social media posts to England womens defender Jess Carter amid the prior years European Championships.

Nigel Dewale of an address on Prospect Street Great Harwood northwest England submitted a guilty plea to a single count of malicious communications alongside possession of a weapon in a private location at Blackburn Magistrates Court on Friday.

This confession followed an inquiry by the UK Football Policing Unit initiated last July concerning mistreatment aimed at Carter.

Dewale will receive sentencing on March 25.

Mark Roberts the football policing lead for the National Police Chiefs Council stated We all bear responsibility for our actions and words and sharing content on social media carries the same weight.

In this instance Dewale forwarded spiteful and harmful messages believing his username would shield his identity.

His remarks were utterly repulsive they inflicted emotional harm on Miss Carter and her relatives and I applaud the guilty plea made today.

Posting on her social media profiles when the mistreatment surfaced Carter who later contributed to Englands second consecutive Euros victory remarked From the tournaments outset I have faced considerable racial harassment.

Although I believe every supporter has the right to voice opinions on play and outcomes I do not accept or consider it acceptable to attack an individuals looks or ethnicity.
