'I'm on the right track': Arsenal's Jurrien Timber provides positive injury update

In an interview with Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport, Timber reflected on the championship celebrations with the newly crowned Premier League winners Arsenal.

"Yes, I needed a day. Hopefully, there are many more celebrations to come, so I need to recover quickly," stated Timber, who visited the Emirates Stadium alongside teammates Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze, and Bukayo Saka on the night of their title victory.

"We had a celebration and thought to swing by the Emirates, assuming it would be quiet. There were a couple of people, but then the numbers swelled, so we made our exit. That moment at the Emirates, you realise the impact on the fans. Twenty two years is a considerable wait, so it's understandable. When it finally happens, it truly affects you."

'I'm on the right track'

Timber, aged 24, has been sidelined with an injury since March and has missed crucial time ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Timber shared an update on his rehabilitation progress, just days before Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman announces his World Cup team.

"Progress is good. I am training intensely for a return. It's challenging, but I aim to be ready for next week," Timber mentioned, targeting the UEFA Champions League final versus Paris Saint Germain on Sunday, 31 May.

Pinpointing his exact return remains uncertain: "It's been a lengthy journey. I am progressing well, but it's tough to predict. I hope for continued improvement, especially for the World Cup. Missing out would be unfortunate. I am optimistic, moving in the right direction. I wouldn't say there's a 90% chance I'll make it, but I am on track."

Being absent for numerous matches of the Premier League champions has weighed heavily on Timber, who was earning significant acclaim for his performances this season.

"It's been incredibly tough. This injury hit in my debut season here, but previously, I've been largely injury free and featured regularly. Not participating now has been difficult. I didn't anticipate such a prolonged absence. Missing out on spectacular games is hard, but the team has triumphed. We've secured the league, and with another grand match approaching, I hope to contribute."

Regarding the World Cup, Timber revealed ongoing communication with Ronald Koeman and did not dismiss the possibility of missing the tournament set across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

"I simply keep him updated on my progress. He's aware of my status, and with hope, I'll be involved. There's a possibility I will be heading to America."
