Igor Tudor describes Tottenham revival as his toughest task

Interim manager Igor Tudor at Tottenham Hotspur has described preventing the team from dropping out of the Premier League as the most demanding challenge he has faced in his career.

The dismal sequence of results for Spurs during Thomas Franks time in charge resulted in the Danish coach being dismissed earlier this month. Tudor was hired to achieve a similar mid season turnaround to the ones he accomplished with Juventus and Lazio in Italy.

Tottenham have not competed below the top division in England since the 197778 season and Tudors initial game in charge concluded with a 41 loss in the derby against north London opponents and current league frontrunners Arsenal on Sunday.

This recent setback prolonged Tottenhams league drought without a victory to nine games and left them with just two triumphs from their previous 18 outings in the competition.

Spurs currently sit in 16th position on the standings and are merely four points clear of the relegation zone before their upcoming away fixture against Fulham on Sunday.

When questioned on Thursday about whether this represents his greatest salvage operation Tudor responded Probably if I assess and acknowledge the challenges involved yes. It is an even greater test and an even stronger incentive to tackle it and that is exactly what we intend to do.

He noted that the position is more arduous than he anticipated yet emphasised that efforts on the training pitch could ignite a comeback.

Probably yes Tudor stated. Yes it is very demanding but as I mentioned earlier my view remains unchanged. It is what it is so everyday training concentration improvement across all areas including fitness mental strength output and awaiting the return of the squad members.

We must concentrate on ourselves and what we can control rather than dwelling on opponents. That approach has always served well and it will continue to do so.

Tottenham will learn their Champions League last16 adversaries on Friday but Tudor vowed not to expend any effort on potential ties with Atletico Madrid or Galatasaray.

I do not dwell much on the draw he remarked. It alters nothing for me.

The Croatian coach will take encouragement from the availability of centreback Kevin Danso and wingback Pedro Porro for Sundays clash at Craven Cottage.
