Igor Tudor confident Tottenham can avoid relegation following Arsenal defeat
Igor Tudor is convinced that his Tottenham Hotspur team has sufficient matches left to steer clear of Premier League relegation if they remain grounded.
Tottenham suffered a heavy 4-1 home loss to top-of-the-table rivals Arsenal in an uneven north London derby, which has left them in 16th position, only four points clear of the relegation zone.
A dismal sequence of just two league victories in 17 matches under Thomas Frank prompted the Danish coachs dismissal earlier this month, leading to Tudors appointment in an effort to mirror the successful turnarounds he achieved mid-season with Juventus and Lazio in Italy.
Tottenham have not competed below the English top division since the 1977/78 campaign, and after his debut match in charge, the Croatian manager emphasised that survival in the top flight is achievable this season.
"Naturally, there is ample time," Tudor stated.
"I observed the enthusiasm and determination, so I was not frustrated, as they desired to succeed, yet at that point they struggled to execute the required actions."
"From my very first day with the club, I arrived to tackle the issues."
The 47-year-old added: "Maintaining humility is crucial for everyone involved, and we must strive to form what I mentioned earlier, a united group, a diligent unit. That is our sole focus right now."
