Hosting women's national team games at Parken Stadium proves unprofitable for Danish FA
The Parken Stadium had 12,000 attendees for the Danish women's national team's World Cup qualifying game against Italy on Saturday.
However, greater numbers are essential if the fixtures are to turn a profit, according to DBU director Erik Broegger.
Still, the Danish FA is positive about organising one yearly outing for the women's national team to the main venue, as long as it pairs with additional arena events and an engaging opponent.
Even so, it remains a financial drain for the Danish body due to the deficits from such games.
"We would still face a deficit with 15,000 spectators, and likely with 20,000 as well", Erik Broegger stated to Ritzau.
He views it as an intentional choice to bear the economic hit.
"It represents an investment from us. We have funds available, which we channel into the team through improved facilities, higher payments, bigger teams, and full professionalisation of the operation. Some funds also enhance the fan atmosphere and stadium quality."
Denmark and Italy finished with a 0-0 result on Saturday, leaving Denmark leading their group for next year's Women's World Cup in Brazil, with two fixtures to go.
