Holders Arsenal set up Women's Champions League clash with Chelsea
Arsenal, the defending champions, arranged a Women's Champions League quarter-final meeting with Chelsea after defeating Belgian side Leuven on Wednesday, as Real Madrid earned a last-eight showdown against rivals Barcelona.
With a 4-0 lead from the initial away match in Belgium, Arsenal easily wrapped up the tie with a 3-1 victory at home.
English striker Alessia Russo put the Gunners in front on the evening with a left-footed effort from inside the box in the 23rd minute.
Sara Pusztai needed just six minutes to bundle in an equalising goal for Leuven.
However, Mariona Caldentey slotted in a penalty in the 65th minute for Arsenal, and Russo capped a smooth attacking sequence late in the game to secure an impressive 7-1 overall triumph.
Naomie Feller shone brightly as Real Madrid triumphed 2-0 over Paris FC in Madrid, confirming a 5-2 aggregate success.
Coming into the second leg 3-2 behind from their home fixture, Paris FC complicated matters further when defender Thea Greboval received a direct red card inside the opening five minutes.
Greboval fouled Feller, who was bearing down on goal while Paris keeper Mylene Chavas remained positioned on her line.
Chavas denied a spot-kick from Caroline Weir nine minutes shy of the interval, maintaining hope for Paris FC.
Yet, she had no answer to Feller's excellent volley in the 54th minute, followed by an own goal from Paris defender Melween N'Dongala during the second half.
"We battled hard and we will gain experience, and we will develop," Chavas commented.
