Harry Kane set to skip Bayern clash with Gladbach over calf issue

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany announced on Thursday that Harry Kane will not feature in the Bundesliga fixture versus Borussia Moenchengladbach due to a calf problem.

The English forward, who has featured in every match for Bayern this campaign, is anticipated to be ready for the Champions League round-of-sixteen opener against Atalanta next Tuesday.

"Harry Kane is sidelined. He picked up a calf knock and is yet to fully recover," Kompany remarked during the pre-match media briefing prior to Friday's encounter.

"It is merely a minor knock, nothing concerning for the future, though we might require an extra day for him to participate.

"We remain calm about it. Naturally, we would prefer Harry to play, yet such occurrences are part of the game...

"Whenever Harry is absent, it gives opportunities for other players to shine."

Bayern made significant progress in retaining their Bundesliga crown last weekend, securing a 3-2 comeback victory over title rivals Borussia Dortmund, which extended their lead to 11 points.

Kane netted a brace in that game, bringing his total goals across all competitions this season to 45.
