Hacken move back to second after beating Hammarby, as Goteborg triumph in nine-goal thriller
Vasteras 4-5 Goteborg
For the second time this season, a single Allsvenskan match has seen nine goals. However, unlike Hammarby's 8-1 victory over Orgryte, this contest was extremely tight, although for Goteborg, who are now unbeaten in three, it perhaps should not have been so close.
The first goal came after only 13 seconds. Noah Tolf played a long ball down the left flank, and Tobias Heintz gave chase, getting in behind the defence with ease before finishing. Seven minutes later, Heintz added his second, volleying from close range after Sebastian Clemmensen headed the ball across goal.
Incredibly, Goteborg led 3-0 after just nine minutes. Another hopeful ball over the top allowed a forward to get behind the defence. This time it was Rockson Yeboah finding Adam Bergmark-Wiberg, who let the ball bounce before striking it cleanly and sending it into the bottom corner.
The home side eventually weathered the storm and then created their own with two goals in three minutes just before the half hour. Simon Gefvert squared the ball from the right across the area, allowing Karl Gunnarsson to apply a composed finish. Then a corner from Marcus Baggesen was turned in at the near post via Mikkel Ladefoged's header.
Vasteras' efforts to get back into the match seemed to unravel in the 37th minute, when Bergmark-Wiberg played the ball low, and it was swept in at the far post by Heintz, completing a superb hat-trick.
After the interval, however, Vasteras showed they were not finished. In the 53rd minute, Gunnarsson attacked through the middle before sliding the ball through for Taonsa Axel, who finished to make it 4-3.
Remarkably, the match was level midway through the second half. Vasteras worked the ball into the area from the left, and Jens Magnusson squared to Axel, who again remained composed in front of goal to complete his brace.
However, with 11 minutes remaining, it was IFK who claimed the win, as Heintz scored his fourth of an extraordinary match. A free kick played into the area was cleared to the Norwegian 25 yards from goal, and he controlled it before unleashing a curling shot that went around the goalkeeper and inside the far post.
A goal worthy of winning any contest was not enough to lift Goteborg out of the relegation zone, though they are now only kept there by goal difference. As for Vasteras, they sit 11th after their two-match unbeaten run came to an end.
Hacken 3-2 Hammarby
The top of the table remains unchanged, with Sirius eight points clear of Hacken. Hacken needed to come from two goals down to beat Hammarby and ensure they did not fall further behind the leaders.
The visitors arrived on a two-game winning streak, but that seemed certain to be halted after Victor Lind collected Paulos Abraham's pass, cut inside, and fired in a strike from 20 yards in the ninth minute. He then put Bajen 2-0 up half an hour later by hammering in another shot from the edge of the box after a poor clearance.
However, the match turned completely early in the second half. Victor Eriksson pulled back Silas Andersen inside the box, and Amor Layouni converted the resulting penalty. After ten minutes of the second period, Hammarby's lead was erased, as Andersen dribbled past defenders through the middle of the visitors' half before guiding the ball into the bottom corner.
The turnaround was complete with 11 minutes remaining, as the alert Adrian Svanback got to Julius Lindberg's cutback before the Hammarby defence and his finish from the edge of the six yard box was unstoppable.
Hacken now have five wins and five draws from their ten games so far, while Hammarby have fallen to fourth this weekend after this latest defeat.
Degerfors 2-2 Brommapojkarna
Another home comeback occurred in Degerfors, where the hosts dug deep to secure a point against Brommapojkarna. There was also an early goal in this match. BP took the lead in just the second minute through Mads Hansen, and Simon Strand doubled the advantage seven minutes into the second half.
Four minutes later, Strand went from hero to zero as his own goal let the home side back into the contest, and by the 63rd minute Degerfors had equalised again through Marcus Rafferty.
The point ended a run of two consecutive wins for the Bromma Boys, who sit seventh but are only three points off the European places. Twelfth-placed Degerfors are now winless in six matches, though four of those have been draws.
Allsvenskan now takes its midseason break, returning on 3rd July.
