Guardiola Concedes Premier League Title No Longer Under Man City's Control
"It's now not in our hands, before it was, now no," Guardiola remarked.
"We have four matches left in the Premier League. They will be fairly comparable and we will observe the outcomes."
Manchester City could have equalled points with the top side Arsenal by beating Everton on Monday and Brentford shortly after.
However, they are now trailing by five points, though they possess an extra fixture, requiring any slip up from Arsenal.
Guardiola had to contemplate earning a single point instead of the full three at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
"It's preferable to a defeat," he noted. "We would prefer a victory. We strive for that and we just demonstrated our team spirit. We attempted all possible efforts. The players displayed aggression."
Winger Jeremy Doku delivered the thrilling leveller in the 97th minute, securing a brace for the evening, and mirrored his managers disappointment yet affirmed that City maintain their resolve with four league matches remaining.
"It hurts at the moment but plenty of games remain and surprises can occur," Doku stated. "We will continue battling. We owe that to ourselves and our supporters."
City forward Erling Haaland, who netted in the 83rd minute, was overheard uttering "We're still in it" while greeting his fellow players post match.
After the upcoming clash with Brentford on Saturday, City will confront Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa in their concluding three Premier League encounters.
Arsenal face a much simpler run in, at minimum in theory, facing West Ham United who battle relegation, the already demoted Burnley, and Palace.
Although their league aspirations took a significant setback on Monday, Manchester City remain eligible for a domestic treble. They overcame Arsenal to claim the League Cup in March, and will play Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 16.
