Gothenburg Derby Concludes in Draw for Goteborg and GAIS with Vasteras Claiming Away Triumph at BP
Goteborg 2-2 GAIS
Both Gothenburg teams that ended the 2025 campaign on a high note remain winless in the 2026 league season, following Goteborgs initial advantage and subsequent recovery in their fixture against GAIS at home.
The home side led at the break courtesy of Rockson Yeboah, who delivered an impressive bicycle kick following GAISs inability to deal with a free kick delivered into the penalty area, midway through the first half.
Yet two strikes within six minutes shortly past the hour flipped the match on its head with Max Andersson slotting into the bottom corner after his intended pass was returned to him, before GAIS took the lead as William Milovanovic bent the ball into the upper corner from within the box.
That said, the Mackerels advantage endured just three minutes before Adam Bergmark-Wiberg set up Kruse, who drove the ball low from 25 yards to earn Goteborg a share of the spoils, marking their third consecutive draw, whereas GAIS now have successive ties.
Brommapojkarna 1-2 Vasteras
Having overcome fellow newcomers Kalmar in the opening matchday, Vasteras notched their inaugural victory over a longstanding Allsvenskan outfit by defeating Brommapojkarna 2-1 away, while the home team could not capitalise on their prior success.
The away team opened ideally after merely three minutes when Ismet Lushakus delivery from the right was nodded home by Philip Bonde, though BP responded in just four minutes with Oliver Berg rifling a 25-yard effort into the top corner.
Nearing the hour, Vasteras netted the decisive goal via a familiar approach with Lushakus cross now originating from the left, yet Bonde once more precisely headed to the far post.
Vasteras sit in fifth position with eight points, as the Bromma Boys trail by three points and five spots lower.
