Glasner coy over Palace pursuit of Spurs striker Johnson

Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, remained tight-lipped on Wednesday about his team's interest in signing Tottenham's forward Brennan Johnson.

Reports indicate that Palace and Tottenham finalised a deal on Tuesday for a transfer fee of £35 million ($47 million) involving Johnson, though the Welsh player has not yet committed to his next move.

Interest in the 24-year-old also comes from Bournemouth, who are reportedly eyeing a deal during the upcoming January transfer period.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of Thursday's game against Fulham, Glasner was questioned on the matter and responded: "Let's see what's happening.

"Tomorrow marks the beginning of football's next hectic period, and I'm uncertain. Over time, I've seen countless scenarios where a player seemed set to join but ultimately did not, or one expected to remain ended up departing.

"In the coming 31 days, anything could happen as usual, and what I mention now could prove incorrect within days. I suspect much of today's commentary will be outdated by the transfer window's close, simply because I cannot predict.

"This is precisely why I avoid dwelling on it and prefer not to discuss such topics openly."

During the 2024/25 campaign, Johnson topped Tottenham's scoring charts and netted the decisive goal in their Europa League final victory against Manchester United in Bilbao, yet he has found minutes hard to come by under Thomas Frank so far this season.
