Glasner Claims Palace Board Has Left Him 'Abandoned'

After Crystal Palace's 2-1 loss to Sunderland on Saturday, which pushed their winless streak to 10 matches, manager Oliver Glasner accused the club's directors of totally deserting his players.

Glasner, who stated on Friday that he intends to exit the club upon his contract's conclusion this season, managed without skipper Marc Guehi, the defender expected to move to Manchester City.

The team had previously profited from transferring Eberechi Eze to Arsenal during August, and reports indicate they may offload leading forward Jean-Philippe Mateta to Juventus ahead of the January transfer cutoff.

Under Glasner's stewardship, Palace captured their debut significant prize by triumphing in the FA Cup the previous campaign.

That said, their bid to hold onto the trophy concluded in humiliating fashion, suffering a loss to sixth-division outfit Macclesfield just last weekend.

Glasner's squad has seemed drained lately, having already featured in 34 outings across four different contests this term.

The Austrian backed his team amid their dismal form, directing criticism at the leadership for neglecting to equip him with a more capable roster.

"I feel we are being abandoned completely," he informed the BBC following the Sunderland loss.

"I can't blame any player. They did everything they could and this has been going on for weeks and months now.

"We have 12 or 13 players from the squad available and we feel no support.

"The worst thing is selling our captain one day before playing a Premier League game.

"We are preparing, it's the first (full) week we are training since September, and then we are selling our captain one day before a game. So I have no understanding of this."

The 51-year-old Glasner has been tipped as a potential successor at Manchester United and Tottenham for the next term.
