Frank optimistic Van de Ven boasts 'bright prospects' at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank expresses optimism regarding Micky van de Ven's prolonged commitment to the north London outfit, notwithstanding speculation linking the Dutch centre-back to Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid.

The defender notched a brace in Sunday's 3-0 triumph over Everton, elevating his goal count this season to five in 13 outings, as Spurs occupy third spot in the standings, trailing frontrunners and bitter north London adversaries Arsenal by five points.

With injured team captain Cristian Romero sidelined, Van de Ven has stepped up as a pivotal presence and may helm the lineup once more for the upcoming League Cup fixture against title holders Newcastle United on the road this Wednesday.

Frank, keen on securing the mainstay personnel from the group that clinched the Europa League back in May, seems unfazed by the challenge of retaining Van de Ven, who penned a six-year agreement with Spurs in 2023, amid whispers that Real Madrid are monitoring the 24-year-olds development.

"Yes, thoroughly pleased with Micky. He has excelled since arriving and has elevated his game notably this term," Frank remarked.

"His defending has sharpened even more. He remains adept on the ball, plus the goals including those headers delight me greatly. He endangers opponents from dead-ball situations.

"His traits and guiding influence are advancing too, and to my knowledge, our deal with him is robust, yet undoubtedly, I view him as possessing substantial prospects here.

"He appears settled in our environment, a vital factor, and we value him immensely, so we shall observe future developments.

"Crucially, it seems he truly relishes his football and his stint with us. I am delighted, and the entire setup shares that sentiment, marking a positive indicator."
