Former PSG Player Hamraoui Sues Club for 3.5 Million Euros in Damages
Ex-Paris Saint-Germain female footballer Kheira Hamraoui lodged a claim for 3.5 million euros, equivalent to about 4 million dollars, against the club on Monday. She asserts that the team effectively ousted her following a savage beating with an iron bar.
The incident occurred in November 2021, when Hamraoui was set upon by two men in masks upon returning from a squad meal while riding in a vehicle alongside colleague Aminata Diallo.
Once Diallo faced arrest and charges for plotting the assault against her fellow player, Hamraoui reportedly endured psychological bullying from certain members of the PSG squad.
Among them, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani opted not to deliver passes to Hamraoui in matches, contended her representative Pascal-Pierre Garbarini during proceedings at the Paris labour court.
Hamraoui faced exclusion on the field, within the locker area, and even from the spectator sections, where individuals claiming PSG allegiance brandished derogatory placards aimed at her. Additionally, she encountered abuse across various social platforms, according to Garbarini.
"What steps did PSG take? Zero!" he declared, detailing the requested reparations from Hamraoui: "one million euros for compensation and interest related to psychological bullying, 173,400 euros for neglecting protective responsibilities, 300,000 euros for compensation and interest over not halting psychological bullying, one million euros for compensation and interest due to emotional distress, and one million euros for compensation and interest over forfeited prospects".
This figure approaching 3.5 million euros represents "247 months of earnings", countered the club's counsel Benjamin Louzier, who further explained that Hamraoui's net monthly remuneration during her two-year agreement in the French city stood at 14,450 euros.
Louzier emphasised that Hamraoui possesses no physician's document verifying experiences of bullying, and she failed to inform either PSG or the workforce advisory group about it.
The session unfolded in a full chamber, preceding a separate labour conflict between PSG and previous standout forward, plus France's team leader, Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe demands 240 million euros in reparations from PSG, with the club reciprocating by pursuing 180 million euros from him.
The labour court anticipates issuing its ruling on the Hamraoui matter around mid-December.
