Former Man Utd Player Lingard Nets Goal in Emotional Parting from South Korean Outfit
Jesse Lingard, ex Manchester United and England standout, capped his stint at FC Seoul with a goal in his parting match, leaving South Korean football behind after two campaigns in heartfelt style.
The 32 year old ex England cap slotted in the first goal during FC Seouls 1 1 stalemate against Melbourne City at home in the AFC Champions League on Wednesday evening, just days after revealing it would mark his final outing for the side.
With 60 games under his belt for FC Seoul, Lingard welled up watching a tribute video on the stadium screen hailing "Our cherished skipper".
The message read, "Your name and achievements will forever echo in our clubs annals. Seoul remains your base. Cheers, our skipper."
Joining in February of the previous year, Lingard spoke to and saluted the supporters before embracing his colleagues on a victory lap.
He noted prior to the fixture that his time in South Korea had been "a joyful two years".
"I have gained much knowledge, grown wiser, and shouldered plenty as captain this season," remarked the offensive midfielder, who earned 32 England caps, featuring in the 2018 World Cup semi final.
"I depart South Korea as a more rounded individual, I am certain."
Lingard neatly finished in the 31st minute to give Seoul the lead, marking it with a Michael Jackson inspired moonwalk.
Melbourne levelled in the latter stages of the second period.
