Forest dismiss Dyche following lacklustre draw against Wolves

Nottingham Forest have parted ways with their manager Sean Dyche on Wednesday following a frustrating goalless draw at home to Wolves, which has left them just three points clear of the Premier League drop zone.

The club is now on the hunt for its fourth head coach this campaign after Dyche's departure, which came after under four months at the helm.

"Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach," the club announced in a statement on X.

"We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future."

The 0-0 result against the league's bottom side has plunged Forest deeper into relegation trouble, with supporters jeering the team off the pitch at the City Ground at full time.

After the midweek deadlock, a downbeat Dyche admitted his position was under threat, hinting that the unpredictable owner Evangelos Marinakis might opt to make a bold move.

Marinakis has already removed Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou from their roles this season, and his tolerance reached its limit once more after Forest failed to score despite 35 attempts on goal.

The 54 year old Dyche, formerly at the helm of Everton and Burnley, described himself as a "realist" regarding his vulnerable status and spoke as if accepting what might lie ahead.

"The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt," he commented. "If anyone chooses to change in football now, that's their decision. We've all seen it," he continued, mere hours after Tottenham let go of Thomas Frank as their boss.

"If the owner wants to make a change, then that's up to him, and that's the way football is now, that's just the reality of it.

"He's been absolutely fair with me from the beginning to the end, and I've been fair with him and told him the truth every step of the way."

Forest flourished under Nuno in the previous term, earning a Europa League spot, but the Portuguese manager was axed after clashing with Marinakis on transfer matters.

Postecoglou's tenure proved even briefer, ending after only 39 days. Dyche lasted just 114 days himself.

Marinakis has a window to select the next appointee.

Forest head to Turkey for a Europa League clash with Fenerbahce on February 19, prior to hosting Liverpool three days afterwards.
