Flight Delay Throws Liverpool Off Course, Gravenberch Sidelined for Frankfurt Away Game

Liverpool had to scrap their pre-match press briefing ahead of Wednesdays Champions League trip to face Eintracht Frankfurt, following a three hour hold up on their flight to Germany caused by technical problems.

Ryan Gravenberch did not join the 21 player group that finally departed from Merseyside, having picked up an ankle knock during Sundays 2-1 loss against Manchester United.

The Premier League title holders are keen to dodge a fifth straight loss, which would be their first such run in 73 years, when they meet the high scoring Frankfurt side.

"The press conference before our game against Eintracht Frankfurt has been called off," Liverpool announced.

"Technical faults with the plane led to a delay in the teams flight to Frankfurt, making it impossible to hold the session as planned."

With Gravenberch unavailable, this might give Florian Wirtz a chance as he heads back to his home country.

Wirtz has sat out the previous two league matches under Arne Slot, after a slow beginning to life at Liverpool following his £100 million ($134 million) switch from Bayer Leverkusen.

Hugo Ekitike should also return to the lineup versus his old team, having moved from Frankfurt to Anfield for £69 million back in July.

Each team has picked up three points from their first two outings in the Champions League.
