Fiorentina dismiss Pioli following dismal winless opening in Serie A
On Tuesday, Fiorentina, who are struggling in Serie A, sacked their manager Stefano Pioli. The team sits at the bottom of the league after failing to win any of their first ten matches this season.
This marks the worst start to a top-flight campaign in the clubs history. They have collected only four points so far, despite placing sixth at the end of the previous term.
The 60 year old Pioli rejoined Fiorentina in July for another tenure, after managing Saudi outfit Al Nassr for less than a year. Prior to that, he led AC Milan for five years before departing at the conclusion of the 2023 24 season.
Pioli is now the third Serie A coach to be removed this season. Juventus parted with Igor Tudor last week, and Genoa ended their association with Patrick Vieira.
Fiorentina have installed Daniele Galloppa as interim successor, though reports indicate interest in Roberto DAversa, who has managed Parma, Lecce, and Empoli, along with ex Torino head Paolo Vanoli, to permanently replace Pioli.
