Feyenoord chief Dennis te Kloese announces departure amid potential shift to Monterrey
Te Kloese arrived at Feyenoord back in 2022 following previous positions at LA Galaxy, the Mexican Football Federation, along with multiple roles at Chivas Guadalajara, Tigres, and Chivas USA.
While at Feyenoord, the team from Rotterdam secured the Eredivisie title in the 2022-23 campaign, the KNVB Beker in 2023-24, and the Johan Cruyff Shield during 2024-25.
On the official club site, Feyenoord highlighted Te Kloeses contributions to finances, noting how the clubs equity rose from €1 million in 2022 to €37 million in the latest accounts, plus achieving a peak revenue of €160 million for the 2024-25 period.
The 52 year old ex scout plans to stay until the seasons end to ensure a smooth handover. "Yet I can already affirm that guiding Feyenoord has been a genuine honour. Naturally, not all aspects went flawlessly, yet alongside every colleague at the club, we achieved significant progress," he remarked in an official release.
Feyenoord faces a challenging year under Robin van Persie, though they sit in second position with four matches remaining, earning a straight entry to next seasons UEFA Champions League League Phase.
That said, fans of Feyenoord have voiced strong disapproval towards Te Kloese lately, as seen with visiting supporters at the Eredivisie clash versus FC Utrecht who filled their sections with banners urging Te Kloese and Van Persie to step aside.
"The groundwork established now is solid," Te Kloese added. "I trust the club and fans will keep developing it, perhaps even uniting with the new stadium soon after years of hurdles."
Suggestions of Te Kloese linking up with Monterrey in Mexico surfaced prior to this news. The seasoned administrator is expected to take on the sporting director role there, drawn by the prospect of relocating to his wifes homeland.
"Whatever lies ahead for me and my family is uncertain, but in any case, I will reflect on this chapter with great satisfaction, and I extend best wishes to Feyenoord and every supporter," Te Kloese wrapped up.
