Fermin Lopez pens two-year Barcelona extension until 2031
Barcelona have revealed that their promising midfielder Fermin Lopez has committed to a two-year contract extension, securing his services until 2031, as part of efforts to retain vital squad players.
Hailing from the renowned La Masia youth system of the Catalan club, the 22-year-old has finalised terms to prolong and enhance his current deal for an additional two years through to 30 June 2031, according to an official club announcement.
Formal signing of the agreement is expected shortly.
Since breaking into the first team during the 2023/24 campaign, the dynamic forward-thinking midfielder has established himself as a core fixture, accumulating 113 outings and netting 29 times.
Lopez has also earned consistent call-ups to the Spanish national team, contributing to their triumphant Euro 2024 campaign.
This move aligns with recent renewals for other important talents such as young sensation Lamine Yamal, along with Raphinha, Gavi, Pedri, and Pau Cubarsi over the last year.
Lopez now looks to help Hansi Flicks team pull four points ahead in La Liga with victory over Elche this Saturday.
