FC Porto manager Farioli praises Danish midfielder Froholdt for surpassing expectations
Victor Froholdt keeps delivering standout performances for FC Porto. After joining from FC Copenhagen in the summer, the 20 year old playmaker has appeared in 44 fixtures, found the net seven times, and set up six more goals.
Once again on Sunday, the Danish talent made a key impact by scoring the third goal in the 3-1 win against Estoril in Portugals top flight, which led to him being awarded Man of the Match.
"Today I want to give the award to a teammate. I think Pepê had a great game. He had not scored in a while, and I do not think people realise just how good he is. He deserves the award. We came out with the high pressing we wanted, kept the game in their half, especially in the first half. In the second half, we struggled at times, but overall we succeeded with the mentality and game plan we brought into the match", Froholdt commented following the match.
Porto manager Francesco Farioli shared his excitement about Froholdt after the game, noting that the player is already going beyond what was expected.
"He is an excellent player, and his development since the start of the season has been impressive. He came in as a young player with great potential and quickly settled into the teams dynamic", he remarked, as reported by Portuguese outlet Abola, before adding:
"He has a top attitude and is a player who wants to develop in all areas, both on and off the pitch, with great focus on the details."
Froholdt and FC Porto take to the field on Thursday evening for their encounter with Nottingham Forest in the return fixture of the Europa League quarter finals.
