FC Koln Dismisses Kwasniok in Latest Managerial Overhaul Amid Relegation Concerns

This move comes after a 3-3 draw at home versus Rhine derby opponents Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday, leaving Koln just two points ahead of St Pauli in the relegation playoff position with seven games still to play this season.

Kwasniok took the role in June to guide the newly promoted team, yet a string of poor results in recent weeks has led to the Polish born coach losing his position. The club has faced challenges in maintaining stability since Peter Stoger left in 2017, as no one except Steffen Baumgart has held the job for over two years in that time.

"Even with the committed and consistent efforts, a noticeable decline in our progress was evident. We have gained too few points, that is the fact," said managing director Thomas Kessler in an official statement.

Assistant Rene Wagner will take over temporarily for the teams next matches.
