FC Copenhagen dismisses manager Neestrup amid clubs lowest point in history

Even with FC Copenhagen sitting in 8th position in the Danish Superliga at present, Jacob Neestrup guided the team through what stands as the greatest era of achievement for any Danish side.

Over the course of 3 ½ years, FC Copenhagen secured two Danish league titles, two Danish cup victories, plus a spot in a third cup final. Meanwhile, during Jacob Neestrups tenure, the club competed in Champions League fixtures every season from 2022 to 2026, peaking with a last sixteen clash versus Manchester City back in March 2024.

"From the start, the club placed faith in me and offered backing, likely more than many would in such circumstances. Parting ways is tough, yet it feels right at this moment, and we all see eye to eye on that," Jacob Neestrup remarks.

FC Copenhagen earned a place in the Danish Cup final, set to challenge FC Midtjylland sometime this year. Come Sunday, 5 April, they host Silkeborg at Parken Stadium, a fixture that might prove pivotal in avoiding the drop.
