Ex Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen insists Spurs possess too much quality for relegation

Christian Eriksen served as a key figure during Tottenham Hotspurs most prosperous recent chapter, commonly known as the Pochettino period roughly from 2014-2019.

He earned the clubs Player of the Year honour on two occasions and secured a place in the 2017-18 PFA Team of the Year. Over the span from 2013 to 2020, Eriksen appeared in 305 outings, finding the net 69 times while setting up 88 further goals.

At present, Eriksen faces the challenge of staving off demotion from the German Bundesliga alongside Wolfsburg, yet he keeps tabs on his previous outfit and confesses it has been distressing to observe their decline this campaign during a chat with Viaplay.

"It hurts to watch from the outside. It's annoying. I hope they make it because a club like Tottenham has to play in the Premier League. That's for sure."

"It will be exciting to see if they can do it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping they do. They're too good to go out, but that's what you say about almost all teams that go out. But player by player, they're too good to get relegated."

Tottenham hold 31 points across 33 fixtures and trail West Ham United by two points, with the latter occupying the spot immediately outside the drop area. Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers have already faced relegation, leaving Spurs in a scrap for safety with five encounters still to come in their schedule.
