Enzo Maresca remains calm over Chelseas current form struggles
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca expressed that he felt entirely at ease regarding his teams recent performance lull, as he aims for improved steadiness prior to their upcoming home fixture versus Everton on Saturday.
The team delivered a resounding 3-0 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League on November 25, followed by a solid 1-1 stalemate against the top of the table Arsenal in the Premier League shortly afterwards.
However, victories have eluded them since then, with defeats to Leeds and Atalanta, alongside a draw against Bournemouth.
On Friday, Maresca received the accolade of Premier League manager of the month for November, honouring his squads unblemished run during that period.
"We have entered December now," he remarked with a chuckle during his media briefing.
"Such achievements stem from executing the correct approaches in performance and outcomes," he continued.
"November proved exceptional for us. In December, our beginning has not matched our preferences, despite the Leeds encounter which was merely a week back a 3-1 loss on December 3.
"Thus, it amounts to three consecutive matches over one week where results fell short of expectations, yet we are now concentrating on the forthcoming game."
Chelsea, fresh from triumphs in the UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup the previous season, occupy fifth position in the Premier League, trailing Arsenal by eight points.
Maresca conveyed his composure concerning Chelseas brief downturn.
"This is football, entirely typical," he stated. "I realise that often we tend to hunt for issues or matters requiring resolution.
"The Leeds match occurred last Wednesday, some eight or nine days past. We will not alter our entire campaign due to missing anticipated points.
"Yet I remain fully at ease, entirely fine, as I am confident that by seasons end we shall reach our deserved standing."
The Italian acknowledged that enhancing reliability represents the subsequent challenge for his youthful group.
"Regarding individuals, sustaining identical standards throughout a season is unfeasible, though undoubtedly we must acquire knowledge and prevent such occurrences moving forward," he noted.
Maresca indicated that striker Cole Palmer ought to be fit for the Everton clash, having sat out Tuesdays 2-1 loss to Atalanta.
