England Coach Thomas Tuchel Agrees Deal Extension Through to Euro 2028

The Football Association revealed on Thursday that Thomas Tuchel has agreed to a fresh deal, securing his role as head coach of the England mens national football team until the close of Euro 2028, which will take place across the UK and Ireland.

Appointed to replace Gareth Southgate back in October 2024, the German coach has masterminded a flawless qualification effort for the forthcoming World Cup in North America, as England triumphed in every one of their eight qualifying fixtures.

The 52 year old, previously in charge at Chelsea, commented, "I feel thrilled and honoured to continue my journey with England," noting that his original agreement with the team was due to conclude after the 2026 World Cup.

He added, "Everyone knows how much I have enjoyed collaborating with the players and staff up to this point, and I am eager to guide them into the World Cup tournament.

"This represents a fantastic chance, and we will give everything to bring pride to the nation."

According to the FA, this updated contract offers Tuchel and the squad "stability and undivided attention" in preparation for the World Cup.

Prior to this, Tuchel had been linked with the full time managerial position at Manchester United following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, notwithstanding the teams recent resurgence under temporary leader Michael Carrick.

Yet, by committing to England with this new extension, Tuchel looks set to close the door on any potential switch to Old Trafford once the World Cup wraps up.
