Eddie Howe urges Newcastle fans to show patience towards Nick Woltemade

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is calling on supporters to remain patient with record signing Nick Woltemade as Premier League opponents begin to figure out the German forwards key attributes and limitations.

The 23 year old impressed early in his English career after joining from Stuttgart in pre season for £69 million which is about $94 million scoring six times in his opening 11 outings for the north east club.

However the forward has not scored in his past 12 matches.

Woltemade is young and adapting to a fresh competition Howe explained ahead of Newcastles home clash with Brentford who sit seventh in the standings four spots ahead of them.

He began brilliantly and we all hoped that form would persist but maintaining that level is tough despite our wishes for his success.

He is adjusting to the demands of the Premier League including its pace vigour and robustness.

Moreover rival sides are now familiarising themselves with his style which presents his greatest hurdle as they anticipate his moves forcing him to adapt creatively.

To stay one step ahead he must evolve but his positive mindset and approach have been outstanding which I see as crucial to his long term achievements.

The team heads into Saturdays fixture following their exit from the League Cup on Wednesday where the holders saw their bid for a first major trophy in 70 years end with a 5 to 1 aggregate semi final loss to Manchester City.

The Etihad defeat sparked widespread online rumours that the 48 year old Howe may have reached his limit with Newcastle amid talk of him succeeding Thomas Tuchel as England head coach post World Cup.

Despite this Newcastle remain just seven points from the top five and are still in the Champions League facing Azerbaijans Qarabag across two ties for a last 16 spot this month plus the FA Cup.

Addressing the buzz around his position at St James Park Howe remarked Thats unexpected to me. I devote myself fully to the club the players and staff daily striving to be my best to motivate the squad to victories.

Thats my sole focus. I avoid dwelling on the distant future but aim to strategise for the clubs progress in all areas. My personal prospects are not the priority.

Who can say I am uncertain about my tenure here. I simply give my all each day until otherwise informed.
