Eddie Howe dodges Arne Slots remark calling Newcastle a lesser side in Isak move

Eddie Howe, Newcastle's head coach, avoided any dispute with Arne Slot on Friday following the Liverpool managers reference to Newcastle as a smaller outfit while addressing Alexander Isaks shift to Anfield.

The Liverpool chief offered those views after the 26 year old Swedish forward, who transferred to Liverpool from Newcastle last month, pulled up with a groin issue during Wednesdays 5 1 Champions League triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Slot noted that Isak, with a single goal from eight outings at his fresh team, faced difficulties due to not training or playing in preseason at a club not as big as Liverpool.

Howe, prior to Saturdays Premier League clash with Fulham, steered clear of any verbal exchange with Slot.

I see no need to engage he stated. But clearly you can guess my response.

Howe, whose squad overcame Liverpool in last years League Cup final, continued I believe its unwise for me to join such debates. Alex has left this club so I prefer not to discuss him.

While Slots words could be seen in various ways, Howe firmly backed his clubs approach to player care.

Our facilities here are excellent though not without room for enhancement and expansion he explained.

Since I arrived the owners have greatly upgraded the setup and ongoing construction aims to bring further improvements soon.

Howe expressed satisfaction with Nick Woltemade, Isaks stand in, who has netted five times across competitions this term.

The German forward found the net on his first outing versus Wolves yet was pulled off later due to cramp issues.

Howe mentioned a significant physical progress since joining and strong showings in Tuesdays 3 0 win over Benfica.

His current test involves performing every few days which demands much physically and mentally placing heavy demands on him yet he handles it superbly he added.

I notice a player and individual arriving at training more settled and at ease now with his true character emerging all in a good light.

Newcastle sit in 14th in the Premier League before facing Fulham with only two victories to date.
