Djed Spence of England to Wear Protective Mask at World Cup Following a Broken Jaw
The Tottenham Hotspur footballer suffered the injury during a collision with Chelsea striker Liam Delap and was required to sport a mask in their last game of the season, against Everton.
"It's a tad uncomfortable but that's how it is," Spence informed journalists on Monday.
"I have a broken jaw so I must wear it for the duration of the tournament. It is something I will have to become accustomed to. It will take three months until it is completely healed, so it is a lengthy period."
Spence, who played until the end of the Chelsea match, stated he had not been concerned that he might be ruled out because of the injury.
"It hurt but fortunately I play football using my feet and not my jaw. So I was absolutely fine," the 25-year-old added.
