Dani Carvajal in race against time to make Spain World Cup squad, says De la Fuente

"Carvajal plays a crucial role in our team environment," De la Fuente said to journalists on Wednesday.

"I spoke to him just yesterday, so I know the situation. He has no particular injury or anything grave, but he requires time to regain his top form.

"We will observe in the upcoming games if he gets the chance and performs well."

De la Fuente mentioned that Carvajal, with only one cap for Spain in 2025, would accept being omitted from the World Cup team, scheduled in the United States, Canada and Mexico between June 11th and July 19th.

At 34, Carvajal nears the end of his Real Madrid deal and has had limited playing time this year due to rivalry with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Spain kicks off their World Cup against Cape Verde on June 15th, and will play Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Group H.
