Crystal Palace manager Glasner indicates contract discussions paused amid busy fixture list

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner stated on Wednesday that negotiations for a possible new deal are currently paused, while reports indicate the club is compiling a roster of potential replacements.

The Austrian coach, whose current agreement concludes at the season's end, remains connected to various other sides, including those competing in the Premier League.

Palace will face Finnish title holders KuPS in the Conference League on Thursday, followed by a trip to Leeds for a Premier League encounter only 48 hours later, and then an away clash against Arsenal in the League Cup quarter finals on Tuesday.

Glasner, aged 51, explained that there is simply no opportunity for in depth discussions with chairman Steve Parish owing to the intense timetable.

He remarked: "When should I discuss my contract?

"And that is why we agreed, 'OK, let us postpone it until we find some space'.... We aim to handle it in a calm setting, and at present there is no calm environment. That is why we have delayed it."

Sky Sports noted rising speculation that Glasner might allow his deal to expire, anticipating a position at another club.

The Austrian guided the team to victory in the FA Cup during May, marking their inaugural major honour, in his debut complete campaign at the helm.

This term, Palace sit fifth in the Premier League standings and appear strongly positioned to advance straight to the Conference League knockout stage.

Glasner plans to field entirely distinct lineups for the fixtures versus KuPS and Leeds.

The ex Eintracht Frankfurt manager mentioned he possesses just 16 first team players at his disposal and intends to give chances to several academy prospects.

Attacking midfielder Daichi Kamada is set for "at least eight to 10 weeks" out due to a hamstring injury picked up in Sunday's 3-0 loss to Manchester City.
