Corinthians name ex-Brazil caretaker boss Diniz following Dorival dismissal

Dorival Júnior, once at the helm of Brazil's national side, parted ways with the club after their slim 1-0 setback against Internacional on home soil during Sunday's Serie A fixture in Brazil, positioning 16th in the table Corinthians merely two points clear of the drop area.

Diniz, a one-time central player who had a short stint with Corinthians, steered Fluminense to victory in the 2023 Copa Libertadores, then secured the Recopa Sudamericana triumph the year after.

Over that stretch, he stepped in as Brazil's temporary head coach for half a year, only to be relieved of duties in January 2024 after the Seleção endured their initial home reversal in World Cup qualifying, falling 1-0 to Argentina.
