Club legend Patrick Mortensen departs AGF after securing first Danish championship in four decades

Lifting the Danish championship trophy at Ceres Park Vejlby marked the final act in the white shirt for Patrick Mortensen. AGF's captain and forward since 2019, who after 265 appearances for the club has now decided to pursue his career elsewhere once his contract expires this summer.

"I have had good discussions with AGF, but after speaking with my family I have now concluded that my remaining time as a footballer will be spent somewhere other than Aarhus.

"As everyone knows, AGF and Aarhus have meant an incredible amount to me both as a footballer and as a person, and I carry with me the fondest memories and the strongest emotions for the club, the city, and our fantastic supporters."

"I owe everyone the greatest thanks for what they have given my family and me, and to have lifted the championship trophy for AGF here at the end will always be the most significant moment for me", says the 36-year-old Patrick Mortensen, who with 115 goals in the white shirt is the second highest scoring AGF player in history and has become a true legend of the Aarhus club.
