Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella reportedly closing in on move to Real Madrid

The 27-year-old had been linked with a return to Spain over the past few weeks, but it has largely been to Atletico Madrid or Barcelona.

Cucurella even opened up about a conversation with incoming Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, saying the fellow Spaniard gave him ‘confidence’ in the project.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the left-back has agreed terms with Real Madrid and will now leave Chelsea.

It is understood that new Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho was pushing to get the move done, and Cucurella will join after the World Cup.
