Champions Mjallby beaten by new boys Orgryte as Hacken win Gothenburg derby

Mjallby 0-2 Orgryte

Orgryte had started their comeback to the elite division with a solid draw versus Malmo, yet the situation improved further when they managed to secure the inaugural Allsvenskan victory at Strandvallen since 2024.

Tobias Sana delivered a pass inside where Anton Andreasson collected it just 10 yards into Mjallbys territory, he continued his charge before a deflection on his shot deceived Robin Wallinder in the home sides net to give Orgryte the lead after 21 minutes.

Just five minutes on, MAIF struggled to defend a corner and with the ball bouncing in their box Mikael Dyrestam headed it onwards, Jerome Tibbling outpaced Wallinder to the loose ball and nudged it in for a second from six yards.

Abdoulie Manneh had two shots skilfully stopped soon after the interval while Aki Samuelsen free-kick was diverted wide of the upright by Hampus Gustafsson, leaving Mjallby unable to mount a comeback and suffering back-to-back blank defeats in the league during Karl Marius Aksums tenure.

Goteborg 0-2 Hacken

Hacken claimed the city honours on the second matchday by triumphing in the seasons opening Gothenburg clash 2-0 away from home with Goteborg reduced to 10 players by the end.

A quick counter in the 17th minute established the rhythm, as the play shifted out to Julius Lindberg on the flank who crossed low across the Goteborg six-yard line for Gustav Lindgren to finish easily.

Goteborg had an ideal opportunity to equalise around the first halves midpoint after Filip Helander fouled Adam Bergmark-Wiberg in the box, though Tobias Heintz blazed his spot-kick past the post.

Lindberg squandered a clear opportunity to extend the advantage later in the second period, but Hacken sealed the victory six minutes before full time when Amor Layouni delivered a cross from the left and Mikkel Rygaard extended to volley it home softly.

In the closing stages Rockson Yeboah received a direct red for kneeing Sanders Ngabo in the stomach, adding to the misery for IFK who now sit alongside Mjallby on nil points from two outings.

Vasteras 2-2 Elfsborg

Vasteras along with Elfsborg Hacken and Orgryte top the early standings on four points each, though the fresh promotees from Vasteras might have gained more had they avoided a stoppage-time leveller at home.

Following a scoreless opening 45 minutes Elfsborg went in front shortly past the restart when a lofted delivery from Rufai Mohammed sailed over the crowd to reach Niklas Hult at the far upright where he controlled and smashed it against the bar on its way in.

Yet at the 73-minute mark Vasteras pulled even as Marcus Baggesen inswinging corner was glanced in by Mikkel Ladefoged up close, and eight minutes further on they led after Mamadou Diagne seized the ball in Elfsborgs territory and fed it to Ladefoged for a fine finish.

That said the Superettan title holders were robbed of maximum reward deep into injury time, when Thomas Isherwoods pass into the danger zone fell for Ari Sigurpalsson to rifle it on the half-volley and rescue a draw for Elfsborg right at the end.
