Carrick advises Manchester United against hasty manager selection

Michael Carrick emphasised that Manchester United ought to avoid hurrying their decision on a long-term manager, while stressing that his own position remains unchanged.

Carrick stepped in as interim manager for United until the season concludes following Ruben Amorims dismissal in January.

The ex-United midfielder has turned around his struggling team with back-to-back victories over Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham, propelling them to fourth in the Premier League standings.

Ahead of Saturdays encounter with Tottenham, the 44 year old insisted that United must refrain from hasty choices for the managerial role, given the string of unsuccessful hires in recent times.

"No changes have occurred, truthfully. It wont alter my approach or my mindset. Im well aware of my current responsibilities and role here," he shared with journalists.

"Success is our aim. I desire long-term prosperity for the club past this season.

"Whether that involves me or another person right now, its beyond my control, and time will tell.

"Should they alter course abruptly, that would signal a problem. Reactions cannot be overly impulsive, be it after strong results or when addressing challenges. Its about consistent advancement, truly."

Carrick was appointed to lead until the campaigns end after United consulted ex-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and another former forward Ruud van Nistelrooy for the temporary position.

Returning to Old Trafford, where he secured the Premier League and Champions League over his 12-year playing stint, Carrick confessed to enjoying the challenge following his dismissal from Championship side Middlesbrough last year.

"Im thoroughly enjoying this role. Im right here, as you know," he remarked.

"This place feels like home to me, yet I grasp the circumstances fully, so Im keeping my expectations in check."
