Brighton confirm three-year extension for manager Fabian Hurzeler

Hurzeler, aged 33, is the youngest manager in the Premier League, with Brighton in contention for a spot in next season’s Champions League.

The South Coast outfit have announced that Hurzeler has penned a fresh agreement, securing his position at the Amex Stadium through to the summer of 2029.

“I truly enjoy my role at this club and residing in the city, and I am thrilled to have secured this new contract,” Hurzeler shared with the club’s media staff.

“Receiving such a long-term pledge from the club is a privilege, one that strengthens my ambition to achieve our mutual long-term goals.

“Right from the start, our priority has been to build a distinct identity, nurture the squad, contest the status quo and elevate our standards daily.

“I am pleased with our achievements thus far, and far more enthusiastic about the future ahead.”

Chairman Tony Bloom stated: “Ever since his arrival, Fabian has advanced the club’s recent developments with steady performances on the field, while establishing a defined style of play.

“This campaign, he has enhanced the groundwork from his debut season, where he guided us to a commendable eighth position. Throughout his tenure as head coach, the side has displayed determination, vigour and poise. With three matches remaining, we aim for a robust conclusion.

“Fabian’s philosophy and methods resonate with our club principles, and we are pleased to finalise this extended deal; it underscores our dedication to a collective long-term ambition.”

Hurzeler assumed leadership of the Seagulls from St Pauli in the summer of 2024, steering them to an eighth-place result. He could surpass that mark with three fixtures left this term, as European competition appears within reach.

They face Wolves this weekend, then Leeds and Manchester United in their last two encounters.
