Brazil Defender Eder Militao Faces 2026 World Cup Absence Following Hamstring Operation

Real Madrid announced that their player Eder Militao successfully underwent surgery today to repair a tear in the proximal biceps femoris tendon of his left leg. The procedure was carried out by Dr Lasse Lempainen with oversight from the clubs medical team. Militao is set to start rehabilitation in the next few days, the club stated.

During last weeks victory against Alaves, Militao experienced discomfort during a tackle just before the break and promptly asked to be substituted.

At first, medical staff believed the 28 year old might be fit for the World Cup, yet additional examinations revealed this as a repeat of the damage from December.

In addition to this setback, Militao has endured two major knee problems over the past few years.
