Bodø/Glimt Forward Ready for Denmark Bow: Discovering Faith Enhances My Striking Edge

Over a short span, this 25-year-old forward has shifted from being an excess asset at troubled AaB in Denmark's secondary top flight to netting freely for Bodø/Glimt versus leading European teams in the Champions League.

Høgh attributes the remarkable progress in his career over recent years to discovering faith in God.

"I have found God. That is why I am in this position now - and I thank God for it", states Kasper Høgh when questioned on the factors behind his enhanced scoring ability.

He adds that he has gained insights from earlier experiences, during which he was seen as someone distracted by matters outside the game.

"It involves self reflection, and maturing with age. Lessons come from errors, and I realise I was responsible for previous setbacks", Høgh explains.

The Bodø/Glimt player identifies a head knock in August 2022 as the initial trigger for his personal transformation.

"Several events played a role. From the head impact and moments of clarity, to later minor setbacks and avoidable issues where I realised: 'This should not stem from my actions,' yet it did, prompting me to examine myself", Høgh notes.

Since moving to Bodø/Glimt early in 2024, Kasper Høgh underwent a shift as he embraced Christianity, sparked by a profound moment alongside his fellow Dane Albert Grønbæk.

"I discovered inner calm. It began with acquiring a Bible and reading it to grasp certain ideas.

For me, it means embodying positive traits and principles. This does not imply it suits everyone or is universally correct, but it fits my path", Høgh shares, noting it started with Albert Grønbæk. "We would read the Bible and pray while sharing a home", he discloses, adding that Christian beliefs have reshaped his character.

"Absolutely. I am different now. I remain cheerful and enjoy life, yet I have mastered moderating my intensity at appropriate times"

Høgh is expected to earn his first cap for Denmark against North Macedonia at Parken in Copenhagen on Thursday night during the World Cup qualifying play-off semi-final.
