Bayern Munich Secures Manuel Neuer on New Deal Until 2027

The 40 year old goalkeeper has lifted 33 trophies altogether, comprising two Champions League titles, and joined the club back in 2011. Over his 597 appearances for Bayern in various competitions, he has recorded 269 shutouts.

"Throughout its history, FC Bayern has boasted several truly remarkable goalkeepers, and Manuel Neuer holds a uniquely prominent position among them," commented club president Herbert Hainer.

"He represents the identity of not only one, but two generations, serving as a captain who exemplifies excellence both during matches and beyond. We take great pride in the way he has influenced this club over more than ten years."

The goalkeeper and his team at Bayern just failed to reach the Champions League final, having been defeated by the defending champions Paris Saint Germain in the semi finals last week. Bayern remains in contention for the domestic double and will take on VfB Stuttgart in the German Cup final on 23 May.

"I gave the choice careful consideration, and now I feel extremely pleased," Neuer remarked. "All aspects align perfectly here: This squad has the potential to overcome any opponent. Within our goalkeeping unit, we maintain strong unity, continually striving to elevate our standards, motivate one another, and ensure top preparation for every fixture."

In addition to Neuer, backup goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has also signed on for another year.

Neuer served as Germanys primary choice for years, claiming the World Cup in 2014 and stepping away from international duty following Euro 2024.

Nevertheless, recent rumours have intensified about a potential unexpected return to the national side for next months World Cup. Germanys head coach Julian Nagelsmann plans to reveal his selected players next week.
