Bayern forward Nicolas Jackson leads Senegal team for matches against Peru and Gambia
Senegals national side, the Lions of Teranga, is getting ready for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and plans to use these encounters to assess their preparation for the major event.
Head coach Pape Thiaw has called up 28 players for these games, featuring Bayern Munich forward Nicolas Jackson, ex Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy, and Metz attacker Habib Diallo among those selected.
Alongside Mendy in goal are Mory Diaw from Le Havre and Yehvann Diouf of Nice. Skipper Kalidou Koulibaly will lead the defence with support from Moussa Niakhate, Ismail Jakobs, and Antoine Mendy.
Senegal will play Peru at the Stade de France on March 28th, followed by a clash with Gambia three days afterwards.
The African nation has been drawn in Group I for the World Cup with France, Norway, and one more opponent still to be confirmed.
Their opening match will come against France on June 16th at MetLife Stadium, then they face Norways Erling Haaland on June 22nd at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The final group fixture is set for June 26th at BMO Field in Toronto.
