Bayern boss Kompany reveals Kane to miss Freiburg match, should be fit for Real Madrid

Kane sat out Englands recent friendly loss to Japan due to an ankle injury and has yet to recover fully for Saturdays clash with Freiburg.

Bayern will face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg of their Champions League quarter final on Tuesday.

"Harry trained effectively until Sunday, but then experienced discomfort in his ankle during his time with the national side," Kompany explained to journalists.

"This issue will affect tomorrows match, meaning he cannot play. Still, I remain optimistic regarding Tuesday.

"Its unfortunate, as I would prefer him to feature against Freiburg, but currently that is not feasible."

Bayern hold a nine point advantage over runners up Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and could edge closer to securing back to back titles this week.

However, they must cope without Kane and his backup Nicolas Jackson, who faces suspension.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund further announced that Raphael Guerreiro plans to depart the club when the season concludes, amid reports of interest from Juventus in the Portuguese defender.

"Rapha is set to move on. It was a tough call, given he is an excellent player who has delivered many strong performances and offers tremendous versatility, one of his key assets," Freund commented.

"Yet we have committed to informing the team promptly about any decisions, and we have followed through on that here."

Guerreiro has netted 12 goals across 89 outings for Bayern since his transfer from Dortmund three years earlier.
