Barcelona to show off unfinished Camp Nou with public training session

Following two years away while the Camp Nou undergoes renovation, Barcelona plans to head back to the venue for an open training session on 7 November, as the club revealed on Friday.

The event will accommodate just 23,000 spectators, a fraction of the 105,000 capacity anticipated once the long delayed project wraps up.

"The FC Barcelona first team for men's football will make its official comeback to the Spotify Camp Nou on Friday, 7 November, for a training session open to Barca supporters," the club stated on its official site.

Club members can purchase tickets for five euros (5.77 dollars), while the general public pays 10 euros, with all funds directed to a charity supporting children with illnesses, according to Barcelona.

Over two years after renovation began, the iconic venue remains unavailable for matches, even at partial capacity.

"This event doubles as a test for technical and operational elements, including system performance, entry routes, and other facility features, aiding the stadium's step by step return to service," the club explained.

Local fire services have flagged issues with escape paths and additional safety matters.

Barcelona had targeted a reopening last November, but the project has faced multiple setbacks.

The municipal authorities have approved a limit of 27,000 attendees, leading the club to keep using the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic until they can host crowds of at least 45,000 at Camp Nou.

Such postponements mean substantial economic setbacks for the club, which relies on home match income to restore balance.

Plagued by money woes, Barcelona faces costs of around 1.5 billion euros for the overhaul.
